Collection I is curated by Jordan Faye Block of Jordan Faye Contemporary – and is the first in a series of “Collection” Exhibitions by JFC at Overlook Clipper Mill, a visionary green residential project tucked into historic Woodberry, and developed by Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse. In keeping with the innovative spirit of Overlook, these “Collection Exhibitions offer unique, personalized visions of a collector’s world.
What motivates someone to collect artwork is intriguing. A collection is based on the stories and life experiences that shape an individual, a couple, or a family. A collection represents possibility, and what is loved – it is the essence of a home. It is the last glimpse of home that is seen as your busy day begins. It is a comforting enchantment that welcomes you home. It is a lively vision that you share with friends and loved ones.
The works of Lori Larusso and Kate MacKinnon brighten any morning and provide a colorful, lasting impression that can be recalled throughout the day. The evocative works of Alex Kondner, Randi Reiss-McCormack, and Christine Bailey offer an engaging space for contemplation or wonderment. And the works of James Long and Kate MacKinnon create a sparkling environment for lively, engaging dialogue. This first “Collection” opens a window into the possibilities and excitement of the collector’s world
