ABOUT THE EXHIBITION |

Sumptuous, subtle, dynamic, and enchanting, Jenee Mateer's latest exhibition explores nature and our relationship to it with several different bodies of work created over the last 3 years. Nature is our environment, but in these photographs it becomes a character, a place to rest, a texture that swallows us up, and a reminder of our own bodies and mortality. Through multiple approaches and new techniques, hinting at the various roles the earth plays in our existence, this work both identifies current mythologies, and builds new narratives around our connection to nature.

We can anthropomorphize nature, we can worship it's beauty, we can find it within us, we can imagine it into a fantasy world, or we can do all of these things and see how deep the rabbit hole goes.
