Thrive Music #2

Join us for another amazing night of music! This event features performances by Allison Clendaniel and Erik Spangler. Saturday November 19th, 8-11pm in our west gallery.

From Curators Samathan Buker and James Young :

"We seek to watch what happens when music and audiences collide at monthly concerts that are anything but formal. No stage will separate you from the musicians and we hope to see performers react to the work displayed on the walls, floors and ceilings around them. No barriers or categories need apply."

Allison Clendaniel |

Allison is performing artist, classical soprano, avant-garde interpreter, theatre maker, composer, and improviser reborn in Baltimore, MD

Sounds that Allison likes: yelling from baseball stadiums three blocks away, cantors inside of a Catholic Church, emergency alerts ringing on a crowded bus, buzzers, running water, organ drones, the Baltimore Symphony.

Currently she is making objects, crafting songs, carving out new theatre performances, freelancing as a singing musician, and working permanently with Nudie Suits, The Flowery, and her solo project, Rose Cruz.

Erik Spangler |

Erik Spangler (a.k.a. DJ Dubble8) is a composer and electronic musician living in Baltimore, Maryland. Engaged equally with ensemble improvisation, live sample-based mixing, guerilla community sound art, hybrid electronica production, and notated chamber music, Spangler aims to dissolve cultural boundaries while drawing all corners of inspiration into cohesive sound images. Autobiographical audio artifacts, field recordings and found sounds share equal space with newly composed material- all aspects influencing each other. Erik is a professor of Sound Art at Maryland Institute College of Art. He is also Co-Founder/Curator of Baltimore Boom Bap Society, a music series focusing on improvised hip-hop with musicians from diverse backgrounds.
