being present

Honoring where we've been, embracing where we are going, & celebrating a decade of Jordan Faye Contemporary

Reception  |  Saturday November 5, 7–10pm

On View Oct. 26 - Dec. 12, 2016

An installation of over 50 artists will be included in this exhibition - a few of which have been with us for the entire decade, several for the better part of it, and many new artists that we've had our eye on for a while. We're inspired to share them with you.

REFLECTIONS FROM JORDAN FAYE BLOCK

Recently I have been looking back... and thinking forward... and also being present - reflecting on this journey I undertook to begin a gallery of my very own almost ten years ago... a decade of curating, creating and making magic happen here in Baltimore.

Overwhelmingly, I think: WOW!  WE DID IT!!!

I say "we" because there have been so many people who have contributed to the successes of Jordan Faye Contemporary. I would not be who I am without all of the artists who have believed in me and without all the patrons who appreciate the gallery's mission. I am grateful to you all and I say, thank you

People never cease to surprise and amaze me. It has been with tenacity and a belief in what I was building and faith in my artists work that have kept me moving forward. And out of the lost spaces and endings, have always come new and better beginnings. We have continued to grow and adapt as we felt the changing times and saw what shifting demands were calling for.

Now JFC resides at the top of an old building in the heart of a new arts district. This new home we have built came out of love, faith, and the belief that we could continue to help artists grow and thrive in Baltimore. I am proud of this.

We're moving full steam ahead into our next decade, as we open two new exhibits in the galleries - a solo exhibition of new sculptural work and installations by Jeff Herrity: Forest Through the Trees and an exhibition of over fifty artists in Being Present Honoring where we've been, embracing where we are going, & celebrating a decade of Jordan Faye Contemporary.
